There has been a huge amount of excitement amongst the pupils, staff and management of MNS Clonskeagh, all of whom took part in the annual World Book Day on Thursday 3rd March 2016 by dressing up as their favourite book characters.

One could find The Bad-Tempered Ladybird, the Evil queen, Fairy princes, Paddington bear, Farmer Sam, Mad Hatter, Hunger Games presenter, in addition to countless others gracing and scaring the school rooms and corridors.  The acting principal Mr. McCarthy as a 'Man in Black' toured the classrooms and together with teachers assigned certificates for the best readers and costumes in the class.

All in all, the school was buzzing with the excitement of various storytelling and book reading highlights. Very well done to all who took part and we can't wait to see the next year's characters.

About World Book Day

Over the last 19 years World Book Day has become firmly established as Ireland’s biggest annual event promoting the enjoyment of books and reading. The main aim is to encourage children to explore the pleasure of books and reading by providing them with an opportunity to have a book of their own. This may sound like a very simple idea, but unfortunately, many children do not have access to books in their homes.
